Dr. James D. Lalu (PhD, NPOM) is a highly accomplished leader with over 17 years of experience in disability inclusion and community-based rehabilitation. As the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (2020-2024), he pioneered the Commission, developed key policies like the National Accessibility Regulation, and secured accessible office spaces. His work led to employment opportunities, health insurance, and education access for over 200 persons with disabilities.
Lalu has also played a pivotal role in political inclusion, advocating for persons with disabilities in national campaigns and influencing constitutional amendments to secure their representation in governance.
He holds a PhD in Special Education and Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Jos and is recognized for his strategic leadership, policy development, and advocacy.
